Overview

This project was a meaningful experience during the Covid Pandemic to help a health tech startup improve the quality of life for Junior Doctors. The primary goal was to explore how doctors swap shifts and take leave, adding progressive enhancements to the Lantum app enabling a smoother process.

Problem

A hugely problematic space within healthcare in the UK is taking Leave and Swapping Shifts. For a Junior doctor to take a day off often needs 6 months warning, and its then a big unwieldy process. My role was to explore this space, look for opportunities to streamline the experience for both doctors and rota managers.

Solution

Detailed user studies with doctors and rota staff helped to flesh out the problem. We developed a PRFAQ to outline the final idea of what we think needs building, validating it with our users. Knowing where we want to end up, we broke the concept into milestones that aligned with engineering funnels. Detailed wireframes and screen flows were consistently tested with users and stakeholders before being converted into UI screens in tandem with expanding the overall design system.
